This drawing has been painstakingly rendered using stippling, a technique where the image slowly emerges out of the repeated application many thousands of very fine dots with a technical pen over many tens of hours.
This subtle method of drawing imbues the image with an unrivalled delicacy, displaying gentle tonal transitions uncharacteristic of works in pen and works brilliantly for describing the sunlight as it shines through the layers of translucent petals.
